Beware of Misleading Business Entity Report Mailings
We’ve recently been made aware that many Indiana and Michigan businesses are receiving mailings from third-party companies that look official but are not from the Secretary of State. These letters often request payment for filing your required Business Entity Report (also called your bi-annual report).
Please know you are not required to use these companies. They often charge unnecessary fees and can create confusion. You have two safe options:
- File directly with your Secretary of State – most states offer an online portal where you can review your current business entity filing status and due date and renew directly online. Be careful to make sure you are on the official state website and not a fraudulent vendor site. Below are links for Indiana and Michigan
- Engage us to handle the filing for you – our team can prepare and file your entity reports on your behalf for a small service fee.
Staying compliant is important, but don’t be misled by unofficial solicitations. If you have any questions about your filing status, or if you’d like us to take care of this for you, please reach out to us directly.
